In 2016, 98.6% of the electricity consumption at Agroindustrial was supplied by energy generated from sugarcane bagasse.
The highest energy consumption in the engineering and construction sector is due to the burning of fuels, in particular the diesel used by the heavy equipment that constitutes most of the fleet of construction sites. The reduction in consumption reported in 2016 (63%) reflects essentially the lower number of works, their different types, and the different stages of execution in which they were.
At Braskem, an 18.5% increase was reported in energy consumption, due to the start-up of the Mexico Complex in Coatzacoalcos. Not counting this new set of companies, Braskem reached record energy performance in 2016, as a result of optimization initiatives.
